Driveway cost

What a concrete driveway costs in Myrtle Beach in 2026

A plain two-car driveway runs $4,000 to $6,500 on the Grand Strand. The apron, the culvert, the old slab, the finish and the ground under it are what move the number — here's each one.

The published averages for Myrtle Beach put a reinforced concrete driveway at $6 to $11 per square foot installed, with demolition of the old one at $1.10 to $1.80 per square foot — and that's about where our 2026 jobs land. What those averages hide is that a Grand Strand driveway is really two or three jobs: the slab on your lot, the apron in somebody else's right-of-way with its own spec and permit, and on county roads a drainage pipe under it. Here's how the pieces price out.

The add-ons

Removal. $1.10–$1.80 per square foot to break out and load, plus the Horry County Solid Waste Authority's $15 a ton for clean concrete — a two-car driveway is twelve to fifteen tons, so $900–$1,600 all-in. Tight access (a fence, a screen room) adds $200–$600. Base. On most lots a compacted four-inch base is in the per-square-foot price; filled Carolina bay edges in Carolina Forest and the clay around Conway can need a deeper cut and a thicker granular base, $0.50–$1.50 per square foot more. Widening and pads. A doweled-in extension or golf cart pad is $1,200–$3,500 for a car-width strip, $700–$1,500 for a cart pad. Drainage. A channel drain at the garage door, $400–$900; a new culvert pipe, in the apron price above.

What makes a Grand Strand driveway cost more

The apron spec inside the City of Myrtle Beach — six inches instead of four, the permit, two inspections — is the biggest single add. A culvert pipe on a county road is the second. Salt exposure within a mile of the ocean adds a denser mix and coated or fiber reinforcement, a few hundred dollars on a driveway. Stamped work roughly doubles the per-square-foot cost. HOA requirements in Carolina Forest and the gated communities can add a surveyor's plat ($300–$600) to the application. And storm season: after a hurricane, ready-mix and labor get scarce for a month and prices move.

What makes it cost less

Keeping the old base if it's sound and only the slab failed. Doing the apron and the drive in one permit and one pour. Neighbors on the same street scheduling together (the truck, the pump and the permit trip get shared). A plain broom finish with a smooth border instead of full stamping — most of the look for a third of the upgrade. And timing: November to March is the quiet season.

Common questions

How accurate is a price over the phone?

Within a range from your square footage and the road you're on. The on-site visit settles the apron spec, the pipe, the base and the access, and turns the range into one written number good for 30 days.

Why is the city apron so much more than the county's?

Six inches of concrete instead of four, a fee-based permit, a form inspection and a final, and sometimes a sidewalk panel and curb cut. It's the city's spec, and any apron replacement inside the city has to meet it.

Is foam lifting cheaper than a new driveway?

Much — $600–$1,800 for a sunken section against $4,000–$6,500 for a two-car replacement — when the slab is sound. If it's cracked through or the apron is below spec, lifting just postpones the replacement.
